Sneak a peak at human evolution and scientists can’t pinpoint the exact moment we went from an ape-like creature to our current human state. The lack of such evidence means that this evolution remains only a theory.
In the early days of social media it was common to see links for shows, networks, products, and corporations. Slowly, these links have gone away.

I can hypothesize as to why this is. Major social media companies are designed to keep users using their platform. So, posting a link that would take a user away from a platform could negatively impact a post.
I listened to a podcast recently that got me thinking about this as topic. The Science of Social Media Episode 209, Why You Shouldn’t Add Links to Your Social Posts dives into the data. “Tweets with a link achieve 7.2% fewer re-tweets than tweets without. We also found that tweets with a link garner 28% less reach.”
This is just data alone, they couldn’t determine if tweets with a link were simply less engaging or not. However, I feel like social media companies can suppress anything they want to, and if they don’t want you to leave their site, you won’t, at least with any ease.

There are work arounds, because at the end of the day you need to get people where you want them, and that’s on your pages. You can post links in comments, but the data suggests that for maximum affectedness adding a link on your profile and then referencing your link in your profile will help with engagement.
Is this the end all be all solution? Absolutely not! Wait a couple months when the code updates and we will be talking about another work around, because again, social media companies want you to stay on their platform.
