I’m very fickle when it comes to podcasts. It’s hard for me to do talking heads even if the substance is something I’m genuinely interested in. Let me give you a few examples

I recently tried to listen to the Joe Rogan Experience from a few years ago when he interviewed James Hatfield of Metallica. I got bored with the conversation because it was like listening to a dinner conversation with very little production value to move the show along. I turned it off and I doubt I revisit the episode even though I love Metallica.

When I first started listening to podcast I was told by Several friends I needed to Check out Radiolab from WNYC. That show was incredible. It had music, white noise, sci-fi noises, and background noise if need to set the story. They spoiled me with great storytelling and an incredible production.

A this example is a show from Maine called From the Woodshed. I discover this because my current favorite TV Show is Main Cabin Masters and two of the stars started a podcast about all things Maine. The inexperience shows but what they get right is they keep segments moving and fairly short and https://kennebeccabincompany.com/podcast/I don’t get bored. The production value isn’t like Radiolab but the entertainment and knowledge I gain about Maine make the show a must listen.

If I were to create a podcast I would have to do something I’m knowledgeable, passionate, and curious about. I’m all in on running now. But the more I run the less I know and I would love to talk to experts to help with running techniques, recovery tips and other great expert advise. I would share my journey and why running is important to me to create understanding and rapport with the audience.
